About the BAF Summer School
2008
Welcome
The British Aikido
Federation, this year celebrating the 40th anniversary of the British Aikido
Federation/Aikikai of Great Britain, invites all students of Aikido to its
annual seminar at the University of Chester.
The BAF Summer School is, as always; open to all organisations and groups.
Accommodation
The majority of accommodation comprises high standard single
en-suite rooms. These are predominantly located on the University campus but some rooms will be allocated, in the immediate vicinity of, but
outside the campus.
Please note that there is a limited number of self-catering accommodation and
that all accommodation is allocated on a "strictly first come, first served"
basis, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Standard accommodation includes bed linen and towels (except self-catering which
require towels). All residents are entitled to a full English breakfast as part
of their fee.
Facilities on site include self-service restaurants, laundry, swimming pool and
a newly refurbished bar.
Crèche
For parents of young
children there is a free fully supervised crèche available on site during
practice times (opening times subject to confirmation).
Shop
A regular
feature of Summer School is a "bring and buy" shop in which a range of Aikido related goods can
usually be purchased, including a range of gi, books, videos, weapons and not
forgetting the official Summer School T shirt. If you have suitable
goods that you wish to sell in the shop please let us know beforehand or at
registration.
The University of Chester
The venue for Summer
School, the University of Chester, is situated less than ¼ of a mile from the
centre of the historic City of Chester, with its 2000 years of architectural
heritage and City Walls is a short walk from the University.
Chester's Roman remains, the city walls, the River Dee and historic galleries of
exclusive shops are well known tourist attractions. The City also offers a wide
range of activities and venues for lunchtime and evening entertainment.
While the University itself provides excellent
facilities for both training and relaxing as can be seen below.
Historic Chester
While attending Summer School why not
take some time out to visit the historic City of Chester, with
the city centre only a 5 minute walk from the College campus.
