About the BAF Summer School 2008

Welcome
The British Aikido Federation, this year celebrating the 40th anniversary of the British Aikido Federation/Aikikai of Great Britain, invites all students of Aikido to its annual seminar at the University of Chester.

The BAF Summer School is, as always; open to all organisations and groups.

Accommodation
The majority of accommodation comprises high standard single en-suite rooms. These are predominantly located on the University campus but some rooms will be allocated, in the immediate vicinity of, but outside the campus.

Please note that there is a limited number of self-catering accommodation and that all accommodation is allocated on a "strictly first come, first served" basis, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Standard accommodation includes bed linen and towels (except self-catering which require towels). All residents are entitled to a full English breakfast as part of their fee.

Facilities on site include self-service restaurants, laundry, swimming pool and a newly refurbished bar.

Crèche
For parents of young children there is a free fully supervised crèche available on site during practice times (opening times subject to confirmation).

Shop
A regular feature of Summer School is a "bring and buy" shop in which a range of Aikido related goods can usually be purchased, including a range of gi, books, videos, weapons and not forgetting the official Summer School T shirt.  If you have suitable goods that you wish to sell in the shop please let us know beforehand or at registration.

The University of Chester
The venue for Summer School, the University of Chester, is situated less than ¼ of a mile from the centre of the historic City of Chester, with its 2000 years of architectural heritage and City Walls is a short walk from the University.

Chester's Roman remains, the city walls, the River Dee and historic galleries of exclusive shops are well known tourist attractions. The City also offers a wide range of activities and venues for lunchtime and evening entertainment.

While the University itself  provides excellent facilities for both training and relaxing as can be seen below.
