Events
Registration will
commence from 12pm on Saturday 26th July at the University of
Chester. Follow the signs on your arrival on the campus for directions to the
registration area. To
aid the Organisers and to speed up the registration process, please have all
relevant forms, books and fees to hand when you arrive. As always your efforts to arrive
on time are greatly appreciated.
An orientation meeting will be held at 6.30pm to introduce the guest instructors
and inform you of any last minute changes.
Classes
The first class commences at 2pm on Saturday 26th July. Book
in early and take advantage of this extra class
.
Classes with the Guest Instructors, and BAF Shidoin,
continue each day from Sunday 27th
July to
Friday 1st
August, starting with special
sword classes at
6.30 a.m. taken by a BAF Shidoin. Regular Aikido classes begin daily at 9.00am
in the morning and after a break for lunch, at 2.00pm in the afternoon and run
until 5.30pm.
In addition to the regular schedule of Aikido classes
above, there will be special lunchtime jo classes taken by a BAF Shidoin.
Both
the lunchtime and Saturday classes are included at no extra cost for those attending
Summer School, for those wishing to attend for Saturday only, there will be £10 charge.
Gradings
Gradings
for 6th to 2nd Kyu will be on Thursday 31st and those for Yudansha and 1st kyu are on Monday
28th. Both gradings will commence first thing in the morning to allow a full
days practice afterwards.
40th Anniversary Dinner
To celebrate the 40th
anniversary of the British Aikido Federation/Aikikai of Great Britain there will
be celebratory dinner on campus on Friday evening. With the guests of honour
being our visiting overseas instructors.
This meal is open to anyone wishing to attend and will cost £15 per person,
this fee also includes a complimentary drink to celebrate the occasion. As numbers need to be confirmed early
we ask that applications and non-refundable deposits be submitted before arrival
at Summer School. Places will be limited so please book early.
First Aid Course
At this time we
cannot confirm that the one day first aid course will take place.
Please be patient while arrangements are made and watch this space for details
BAB
Coach Course
This course will only be held if we are notified in advance that
there will be sufficient attendees. If you wish to take part, please let
us know as soon as possible.
Subject to demand (minimum of ten attendees required) we will be
running a BAB Coach Course. This will be conducted by a BAB Association Tutor. The course timetable will
include both a theory and a practical session. The dates and times of
which will be posted shortly.
Candidates for the course must be over 18 years of age, graded to
1st kyu or above. Candidates successfully completing the course will be
awarded full BAB Coach status along with appropriate certification.
The fee for this course is £20 per person and is in
addition to any other Summer School fees. It is recommended that anyone
wishing to attend should register their place with Steve Parr as soon as
possible via the contact details on this site. If for whatever reason a
registered place is cancelled, please let us know so that the position can be
re-allocated.
Places on this course are limited to a maximum of 20 and will be
allocated on a first come, first served basis.
